Outdoor dog houses tend to be fairly simple structures, but must be strong and able to withstand all kinds of weather. Most people also want their dog houses to reflect the respect and affection which they have for their pets, so the building should be both functional and smart.

If you are going to make the kennel yourself, you will need a good set of dog house plans to ensure you turn out a professional result. Let's start by looking at the main design features of a good dog house plan.

The kennel must, first and foremost, be a good shelter from all sorts of weather - rain, wind, hot sun. All joins and seams must be thoroughly sealed, and there needs to be adequate insulation from both heat and cold. If your dog likes to lie outside his kennel, consider an overhang to give him some shade for his afternoon snooze. It is a good idea to design the floor to be off the ground, to stop it from rotting and to prevent rising damp.

Proper ventilation is very important. In hot conditions dogs can overheat very easily so they need suitable ventilation at all times. In cold weather their breath can cause condensation, leading to damp inside the building. This is better for mould than it is for dogs. Make sure there are good vents built into your dog house to give a flow of air.

Keep away from pressure or chemically treated wood for making dog houses since it is unhealthy for any animal that might touch it.

Access for cleaning out the kennel is important. Perhaps have a removable wall or hinged roof, or at least a large door or panel that can be opened for this purpose.

The last point is the size of the kennel - it has to be just right for your dog. It must allow your dog to walk in, turn around and stretch out easily. It needs to be just large enough to allow the dog to snuggle down at night and use his body heat to keep warm. If the kennel is too large the dog will not be able to do this.

It should take you only a day or two and about a huundred dollars to make a good kennel. Although a basic doghouse is simply four walls, a roof and a floor, you will most likely want to see a range of designs to get ideas for a more professional model.

To help you we have selected what we think are the best dog house plans currently available. You will find a good selection of designs to choose from, together with detailed materials lists and, of course, the plans themselves. If you are new to this sort of project you get diagrams and photos to help with the little details. The dog house plans are surprisingly cheap, and come with a good full-refund guarantee, which we demand for any product we recommend.

Hopefully you will now know what makes a good doghouse. You can produce one easily and for very little cost using the best dog house plans. Your dog deserves a really professional standard house. Why not make one this weekend?

Building a doghouse that's perfect for your dog can be a rewarding, entertaining process. However, you have to do it with a plan, and you have to know what your house should do. You'll get lots of different advice when it comes to building a dog house, but in the end, it has to suit the needs of your specific dog. To be a good dog house, it doesn't need to be complex - it just needs to keep your dog dry and comfortable, as well as safe. Let's take a look at ways to build a house for your pet.

Dryness

The big thing any doghouse should do is be dry inside and stay that way. While rainy days might result in some water being tracked in, the house should generally be dry. However, even when it's been properly waterproofed, humidity can be a problem. Mold and bacteria can grow in humid areas, so a house that has proper ventilation and won't get too humid is important. Wood houses generally breathe automatically to some degree, since they are made of a porous material. However, vents or a flap type door can significantly improve the dryness.

Temperature

You may be tempted to build a house for your dog that's well insulated and even heated. However, you should understand that dogs don't need the same level of warmth that people do, since they have fur and are relatively resistant to the elements. Even short haired dogs have a lot of insulation against the cold. That means that while protection from the elements, particularly rain and wind, is important, you shouldn't put a heat source in, and you should avoid over insulating.

Your dog is used to cool temperatures, and may get hot in a house that you would consider comfortable. Any insulation used should be well covered, since dogs may chew on and ingest exposed insulation. This can be very dangerous. A hollow wall with airspace is the best form for a dog house, since fiberglass can contribute to rotting wood in the summer.

Size

You can build your dog's house too big. People don't like to sleep in huge spaces, and neither do dogs. Build a house that's large enough for your dog to fit while lying down, plus about three inches on each side. Make the height four to six inches taller than your dog's shoulders. Remember that your pet's body will be heating the space in the dog house, and that dogs prefer a cozy den to a spacious palace.

Materials

Plastic and wood are the best materials if you're making your own dog house. Both can be disinfected to some degree, are durable, and can have good ventilation with the right design. Some owners who want to build really durable houses use concrete blocks or metal. However, these tend to be chilly and damp in bad weather, making them poor choices. Metal covering on the outside of a wooden house can be an excellent method, however. Prefabricated plastic houses are also surprisingly good.

Doghouse doors, bedding, and other supplies like dog clothes can be obtained by shopping online or looking at local stores. You can even buy entire dog houses if you don't feel like making your own. Take a look at all the options and create the perfect environment for your pet.

The best interior design ideas for beach house plans revolve around colors, shapes, textures, and the accessories of the beach and sea. Bright, sunny colors, rough, sand-like textures, and interesting found objects can help to bring the outdoors inside, and all are essential elements in beach house interior design. Another important consideration is practicality, since furnishings and textiles both need to be sufficiently sturdy to stand up to wet bodies and salt air, in addition to being attractive and convenient. Beach house design colors reflect the sand, sea, sky, and sunlight found at the sea shore. Bright, sunny yellows and whites help to bring outdoor light inside. Blues ranging from deep navy through vibrant azure mirror the changing hues of the sea. Ecru, taupe, and shades of beige help complement these colors, and are reminiscent of sand. The overall effect of beach house design is airy and light, to create a relaxing oasis away from the cramped life of the city. The use of texture in beach bungalow house plans is a great way to add interest. Beach homes are traditionally more casual than their counterparts in the city, and rough, textured fabrics such as tweed or even treated burlap can help to attain this insouciance. Pebbles and stones can be used in the garden, the bath, and as pathways around the house to add agreeable textures to a beach house. And, of course, no beach house is complete without some seashells. Some creative uses for these omnipresent (and always interesting) castoffs of the sea are under a glass top of a coffee table, set in countertops in the bathroom and kitchen, and used for pathways around the house. Driftwood can be made into furniture, hung on the wall, or embodied in the basic architectural structure of the house. The furniture in a house on the beach must be sturdy, yet stylish. Fancy drawing room furniture doesn't fit in with a small house plan by the sea. Furniture must play dual roles, such as a sofa which becomes a trundle bed when overnight guests show up or a coffee table which allows for storage beneath it. Essential beach home elements include a large kitchen - dining room area which is big enough to comfortably seat the family and some guests. The dining table should be sturdy enough so that lobsters, crabs, walleye and other bounty taken from the sea can be eaten without damaging the table, or feeling uncomfortable. A large, wooden plank style table with benches or simple chairs is ideal. The living room - family room furniture must be sturdy and also create a relaxing retreat for the family after spending the day outdoors. Putting slipcovers on upholstered furniture is a great way to keep the chairs and sofa looking new (in spite of continual wear), and you can switch them easily for a quick and inexpensive change of decor. No beach house plans (http://www.plantasdecasasgratis.net) interior design would be complete without fun nautical accessories such as fishing nets, ship's wheels, model ships and lighthouses, seaside signs, and - of course, seashells. Seaside accessories provide delightful bungalow house plans accents. Designs for the small house plan (http://www.plantasdecasasgratis.net) at the beach can be casual and fun, yet still look stylish.
